Hello, my name is Audrey Baker and I am currently a third-year occupational therapy student at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. I got the privilege to complete my doctoral capstone at Cincinnati Children’s at their College Hill campus.

Ihope this course is able to provide and educate you with the following information;

Promote meaningful activities within a pediatric inpatient psychiatry facility in order to improve positive social, emotional, mental and physical well-being through client-centered care.

Identify the benefits of the use of play, social skills, leisure activities, and coping skills during occupational therapy interventions.

Recognize barriers that limit the effectiveness of occupation-based treatment.

Provide evidence-based literature within a pediatric inpatient psychiatric hospital which can then lead to advocating for occupational therapists within a mental health setting.

Describe the importance of incorporating occupational therapy assessments to enhance patient interaction, provide client-based occupations, and improve overall outcomes.

Improve client-centered care interventions that met the patients needs and interests to improve independence with self-care, productivity, and/or leisure activities.

Within this presentation I hope to capture my key learning points and provide others with new research and knowledge to help advocate and educate for occupational therapy within a mental health setting. Thank you for joining my presentation and I hope you enjoy!
