Herhangi bir soruda seçenekleri aşağıdaki gibi gördüğünüzde bu soru size zor bir soru gibi görünebilir ve soruyu görür görmez “sanırım bu bir kısaltma sorusu, bu soruyu büyük ihtimalle yapmakta zorlanacağım” şeklinde düşünebilirsiniz.

B) to be captured / escaping

C) being captured / having escaped

D) captured / to escape

E) to capture / escaped

Bu tür soruları doğru yapmanın en kolay yolu öncelikle bu sorunun ne sorusu olduğunu bulabilmektir. Bu soru acaba Gerund/Infinitive sorusu mu?, Adjective Clause kısaltması sorusu mu?, Adverbial Clause kısaltması sorusu mu?, adj + to Vo dizilimi mi, yoksa özel bir yapıdan sonra gelen Ving yapısı mı? vs... gibi soruları düşünebilirsiniz.

Bu sorulara cevap bulabilmek için cümle dizilimi ve boşluğun cümledeki yeri dikkatle incelenmelidir. Ayrıca İngilizce’de Ving, V3, To V1, Having V3, Having been V3 kullanımlarını genel olarak bilmekte de fayda vardır.
