I will provide practical and invaluable advice for anyone interested in the teaching field. My advice is based on twenty one years of experience while teaching in New York City, North Carolina, and Connecticut.

Stepping into a classroom for the first time can be a daunting task. I have been there and seen many of my colleagues depart the profession over the years, especially now.

Teaching is hard. Even in the best schools, it is hard. We take on many roles during the day, but it can be rewarding and fulfilling if you are focused and passionate.

I admire anyone who is entering the teaching profession at this time in history. There is a shortage for a reason; it is challenging, but if you are up for a challenge and take my advice, you will have the knowledge to have a long and prosperous career.

If you join this course with an open ear and desire to learn, it should ease some of the anxiety that you may be feeling. It is okay to be nervous; it is normal. You will learn the techniques and the tools for a smooth transition. I promise you, if you listen carefully and use these techniques, you will feel more confident and secure as you gain more experience. My advice is important and practical; however, it can be easily overlooked in the midst of the day to day business.
