Intro to Assistive Technology (AT) will cover foundational information related to the history of assistive technology, levels of assistive technology devices and service as well as the overall purpose of assistive technology and how it can be utilized to enhance the quality of life for disabled individuals.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will:

· Learn the history of assistive technology as it relates to progressive legislation and the disability movement.

· Be able to distinguish between multiple levels of assistive devices included low-tech, mid-tech and high-tech equipment.

· Gain a better understanding of how AT is used to enhance quality of life and accessibility.

Instructor Bio:

Stephanie L. Robinson, MS, ATP

Stephanie is an Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) with more than 20 years of experience in assistive technology, vocational rehabilitation, complex rehabilitation, home modifications, and durable medical equipment. She cofounded an assistive technology company in 2006 as well as launched an entrepreneurial nonprofit for persons with disabilities in 2019. Stephanie is a national speaker, author and disability advocate. She received her BA in Entrepreneurship, MS in Learning Technology as well as her certification as a Vocational Rehabilitation Director from the University of North Texas.

This is an on-demand course and can be used for continuing education credit. All participants will be required to complete an exam and course evaluation to earn continuing education credits. The exam is based on content presented in the course and requires a minimum 80% pass rate. Partial credit will not be given. CEC certificates will be issued upon successful completion of course, exam and course evaluation.
