DescriptionThe course, inner-workings of Academia Within Occupational therapy, will allow learners to look into academia within an occupational therapy entry level doctorate program.For this course, there are three learning objectives that will be addressed. First, learners will understand the difficulties associated with modifying a new occupational therapy program. Second, learners will identify areas of opportunity for new programs. Third, learners will be educated on ways to implement ideas into redesigning courses within occupational therapy. Learners will be educated on the various components within academia and some of the typical obstacles associated with new programs. This course will offer potential solutions and ideas to deal with some of these obstacles in higher level education. This course will focus on course planning, redesigning of courses, creating course content, course syllabi, and course assignments. This course will also provide resources on course topics within occupational therapy programming and ways that they can be implemented. Resources include program planning forms, lecture content, and an interactive workbook to increase participant engagement. Learners in the course will be assessed on content discussed during the course through four review questions. It is the hope of the instructor that learners take away useful concepts and ideas that can assist with higher level educational programming.
