There are some typical responses you may hear from those who seemingly oppose sustainability initiatives, such as “customers won’t pay for it” or “we don’t have time.” It’s easy to interpret this as “we’re not interested” but what you’re more likely facing is basic human nature: resistance to change! Most people get that sustainability and innovation are important, but it can be like putting a size 10 foot into a size 6 shoe. Organizations need to be stretched to accommodate such initiatives and that takes bold leadership!
