In Engineering each course will have a series of subjects. But the Basics forms the foundation for any field of engineering. There are few branches of engineering where, learning the course "Structural Analysis" becomes very important. Structural analysis plays a major role in designing of multi-storeyed building, manufacturing of vehicles like Cars and Buses, manufacturing of Aircrafts etc. While the designing and manufacturing of these are taken care by various branches of engineering, the Structural Analysis course will be very specific to their own field. But "Engineering Mechanics" is the common foundation subject for "Structural Analysis" course for all branches of engineering. An additional topic 'Introduction to Civil Engineering' is covered in this course in Module - 1, because in most of the Universities, the engineering mechanics is taught with the subject name "Elements of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics".

In Elements of Civil Engineering, the focus is made on importance of various branches of Civil Engineering and the role of civil engineer in infrastructure development.

In Engineering Mechanics – Statics, emphasis is given on analysis of force systems, analysis of simple trusses, analysis of frictional forces, determination of centroid of complex geometries and determination of moment of inertia of complex geometries.
