Hello everyone, welcome to my course! I am Chelsea Steffens a third-year entry-level occupational therapy doctoral student from Drake University in Des Moines, IA. My doctoral capstone experience was educating practitioners of the future, my growth from a student to an educator. In this presentation, I will describe my experience at Cleveland University Occupational Therapy Assistant Program in Overland Park, Kansas. I will discuss the current need and literature focused on this area. I will then discuss how I went about my goals of my capstone to meet the need in occupational therapy education at Cleveland University Occupational Therapy Assistance Program. The course includes photos and descriptions of my educational material. For example, this course includes a presentation of the examination of occupational therapy education as an occupation through the lens of the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework. After my presentation, you will understand the current background information regarding the transition from clinician to an educator in the field of occupational therapy, understand teaching as an occupation, and how my capstone supported me as a future educator. I hope you enjoy this course and learn the need for more occupational therapist educators and clinicians to be educated on the transition to becoming an occupational therapy educator.
