This course includes doctoral capstone findings from a completed needs assessment, literature review, and research. Also included in this course: identifying the purpose of occupational therapy in assisted living facilities, and identifying common faults that may cause injury along with modifications to reduce fall risk. In this course you will learn home modification ideas, resources to reduce fall risk, societal information/research, professional information/research, how to identify common faults/actions that may cause injury, and key informant information. This course has no requirements or prerequisites. This course is directed towards occupational therapy practitioners, certified occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy students, certified occupational therapy assistant students.
About the instructor
My name is Lindsey Gidel, I am a third year occupational therapy student at Drake University in Des Moines, IA. I completed my Level IIA fieldwork experience at Advanced Rehab and Sports Medicine focusing on outpatient upper extremity interventions along with orthotic fabrication. My Level IIB was completed at MercyOne Rehab hospital in Clive, IA focusing on intensive inpatient rehabilitation. My doctoral capstone experience was completed at Ramsey Village Continuing Care Center in Des Moines, IA focusing on home space and activity modification to reduce fall risk along with implementation of fall prevention resources for continued use.
