In this course, students will gain a high level overview of the decentralised finance ecosystem today, and ways in which they may participate or invest in it.

This course aims to provide a basic technical understanding of decentralised finance for the savvy investor. The course covers what decentralised finance involves, what products exist in the ecosystem today (lending, liquidity mining and yield farming), how users may get involved, as well as the risks of participating in decentralised finance.

Concepts covered include that of blockchain, smart contracts and decentralised apps (DApps). While the demonstrations occur primarily on the Harmony One blockchain, the process is roughly similar on other comparable blockchains like Polygon, Ethereum or Binance Smart Chain.

Finally, this course includes a demonstration of how to interact with a decentralised exchange for liquidity mining, along with a video of how to move digital assets across different blockchains in order to take advantage of cross-chain opportunities.

While this course is targeted at the beginner and a newcomer to the Decentralised Finance (DeFi) space, some knowledge of how to purchase and transfer cryptocurrencies would be helpful. Resources are, however, available for students who are completely new to cryptocurrencies in Lecture 1.

Software required would include a Chrome-based web browser, and a browser wallet like MetaMask.
