This course reviews the process for making a birth plan. It will frame what a birth plan is and how to think about the exercise, including what is needed before making a birth plan and exercises to complete a birth plan.

Avariety of topics will be covered, spanning labor, pushing, placenta delivery, and newborn care. Information is presented without bias and resources are included to do further research after you have completed the course. By the end of the course, you will have been able to make a preparation plan, made some early decisions, and have a list of topics to research or discuss.

The course will primarily cover topics related to a hospital birth, but many topics apply to those giving birth outside of the hospital as well. Many topics may apply only to those seeking an unmedicated birth, but the principles and other topics will apply.

Please note this is not a comprehensive childbirth education course and should not be used as such. Some topics will be briefly explained but not taught in depth.
