Who is this for?

This course is for beginner-intermediate level programmers. It is for people who want to get resultswithout going through hours of explanation and background.

Who this is not for?

Since our target audience is beginner-intermediate programmers, we will onlydemonstratethefundamentals while limiting background explanation.

It isn't great for advanced programmers who may want more detailed explanations.

This weekend, you will be:

1. Building a user-login

2. Building a messaging system

3. Building a tweet/retweet system

4. Building a "follow" system

These tools can be re-applied to build a:chat room, booking-system, private login, or any back end system. The skills are transferable to many different types of projects.

What is a server?

In this course you'll be required to install a server on your computer. We'll commonly refer to this as a: localhost. The localhost is the default name describing the local computer address also known as the loopback address (your local website).

There are many ways to install a server - with many software alternatives possible. But for this lesson, we will use XAMPP - which has everything we need - to install our server.

What is XAMPP?

XAMPP is an easy to install Apache distribution containing MariaDB, PHP, and Perl. Just download and start the installer. It's that easy.
