The health of our nervous and immune systems is largely dependent on the amount of oxygen that our bodies receive. Unfortunately, simply breathing a lot does not bring more oxygen to our bodies. In fact, it may even make the distribution of oxygen less efficient.
Over-breathing causes loss of carbon dioxide from the lungs. As a result, the oxygen molecules don’t get released from the blood to the the rest of the body. The nervous system becomes unstable, increasing the likelihood of anxiety, restless sleep, multiple health issues, lack of energy, poor immune system, higher susceptibility to viruses and bacterial infections, premature aging, poor respiratory health and challenges with weight.
There are simple breathing adjustment that you can make to maintain a healthy respiratory function. This course will introduce you to the ways you can deliver oxygen to your brain, heart and other organs, by learning to breathe correctly and performing easy-to-follow breathing and movement exercises.
Breathing is the most important function our bodies perform. Even if you’re a professional athlete with a perfect diet and developed muscles, your body will not function properly if you don’t allow it to breathe optimally.
We come into this world instinctively knowing how to breathe. Just look at newborn babies and how seamlessly they breathe. Babies tend to breathe through the nose and allow the air to travel all the way down towards their bellies. Their breath is relaxed and quiet. Then, as we grow, we become exposed to environmental, emotional and physical stress. In response to that, our bodies tense up and we can, at times, forget how to breathe properly.
Imagine a sick person with multiple health issues, including obesity. How would you imagine that person breathing, especially during any physical activity? Typically, we would expect to see a heavy mouth breather, constantly gasping for more air yet feeling like they’re still not getting enough. This sort of strenuous breathing through the mouth prevents the body from delivering oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body.
Retraining your body to breathe for optimal health can truly change your life!
