This is my attempt at creating a course to explain what I believe is a unique and correct approach to becoming a data scientist. Getting a job as a data scientist is a serious accomplishment that takes a lot of work and serious dedication. Therefore, having a game plan in place from day 1 should be considered essential to reaching this goal as quickly as possible.

If you are anything like me you rightfully might question why you would need to buy a course, when googling “How to become a Data Scientist” would suffice. Well this is exactly where my journey started a few years back and I found that the internet led me to results that were contradicting, fragmented, and overall just incomplete. While the internet is almost always a great resource I found that there was a disconnect between how the internet works and planning for my future career. This led me to what I call ping-ponging off of different pieces of course material and YouTube videos until I finally found myself in a position that I had been dreaming of, albeit 3 years later than expected.

Therefore, I took my failures and my successes to come up with what I believe is the proper approach to becoming a data scientist and created a game plan. First you need to get excited of why you want to become a data scientist. Second, you need to decide what education path is right for your situation. Then lastly, and most importantly you need to learn and apply the Data Science Process to create what I call, your Personal Data Science Use-Case Portfolio. The beauty of this portfolio is you get to explain the Art of Data Science and why you are drawn to do this in your free time.

So, what is this course not? Well it is not a course of technical learning and we will not cover how to become a Python Data Scientist, or explain different machine learning algorithms. Although these skills and many more are necessary, they do not fit in the structure or overall message of this course (However, we will be sure to link to relevant or helpful resources when appropriate). The purpose here is to give you the template, and let you run wild with it, and learn these skills as they are needed.
