DescriptionCurrently there are various educational bodies teaching lymphedema education. Secondary to the multiple educational lymphedema teaching bodies, researchers were curious to discover if there were any differences amongst the teaching material between the educational teaching bodies. To address this question, Drake University’s Doctoral Capstone Student, Lizette Cruz, conducted a research based comparative analysis comparing the lymphedema educational teaching material. Lizette completed her comparative analysis at the number one oncology center in the United States- MD Anderson Cancer Center. Due to MD Anderson Cancer Center’s lymphedema specialists being trained from Dr. Vodder School International, Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy, and Academy of Lymphatic Studies these were the three educational teaching bodies included in this analysis. This comparative analysis compared lymphedema anatomy, lymphedema pathophysiology, lymphedema bandaging sequences, and lymphedema manual lymph drainage sequences. The following presentation will walk through the process of reviewing all the lymphedema educational literature of Dr. Vodder School International, Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy, and Academy of Lymphatic Studies. The following presentation will also walk through the differences found between the three educational bodies mentioned above. Overall, the comparative analysis concluded that there were few differences found amongst the teaching materials between the three educational bodies. Aside from the direct findings of this comparative analysis, this presentation will also highlight potential future research topics that may want to be pursued in the future.
