Welcome to my course Become a Top Performer at Work: Effective Communication and Change Communication. In order to become a top performer at work, we can train ourselves to learn and master two communication frameworks: the WH Framework and the Change Communication Framework. Each powerful framework contains a set of rules which we use in order to deal with problems or to decide what to do. Once you master these two frameworks, you will achieve greater results within shorter time.

So, what makes these two frameworks so powerful?

· The WH Framework provides systematic approach for you to master effective communication. You will learn how to reverse-engineer your communication process by setting a goal first, know what answers you want to get (even before you have the actual answers) from asking open-ended questions you brainstormed using 6 critical ingredients. By doing so, you will focus on your goal in every communication – you are not beating around the bush when you ask questions, so you will get high quality answers that you expect to get. When you have a goal in mind when communicating with people, you are 10 times more likely to achieve goals that you desire than those who lack of this awareness during daily communication.

An excellent example for better understanding: you apply for job openings because your goal is to land a job. So, you always wanted to hear “You are hired!” from one or more of the hiring companies. Then, you will need to ask yourself: how can I increase my chances of securing a job offer? To increase your chances, you will then make use of the 6 critical ingredients and ask yourself: Why am I an ideal candidate for the hiring manager? What interview questions and answers should I prepare for? Who should I approach to ask for interview tips? Where can I find out more about the hiring company and its products or services? When can I attend an interview? How can I write an attractive CV?

· The Change Communication Framework provides step-by-step guide for you to introduce and implement positive changes in 5 steps. Step 1: sharing information, step 2: building understanding, step 3: identifying implications, step 4: gaining commitment, and step 5: altering behaviour. The Change Communication Framework is also designed to simplify your decision-making process by recommending the most effective type of communication, and therefore, strategically position yourself as the change leader who communicates effectively with your colleagues.

The good thing is, either the WH Framework or the Change Communication Framework can be used separately. However, you will achieve even greater results when you use these two frameworks together. You will be able to communicate even the most complex ideas or messages to people in a clear and simple manner. Your audience will understand your message perfectly, they will know the implications of your message, giving you their commitments, and even altering their behaviours to bring the changes you want to see.
