The course “Basic English Grammar” is intended for the Junior level to Middle level (i.e., Basic to Intermediate level) students. It has covered the basic chapters of English Grammar such as ‘The Sentences’ (Meaning, Sentence - Function-wise and Sentence - Structure-wise), ‘Subject and Predicate’, ‘Parts of speech’, ‘Genders’, ‘Numbers’ and ‘The Articles’ including ‘Introduction’ of the course and ‘Why should we learn Grammar?’ Emphasis has been given on the basic Rules of English Grammar and explained with examples.

We cannot but agree that, ‘Grammar’, not only with English but with other languages also, plays very important role as follows

· Grammar is the backbone of a language;

· It gives one confidence for writing and speaking;

· No one can ignore or flout grammar in any form of language, be it in ‘writing’ or in ‘speaking’;

· It helps one enhance the scope of progress in one’s professional field and earn reputation nationally and internationally as well;

In recent years, it has been observed that a segment of people seems to be capable of speaking English fluently but do miss the mark often while writing something formal in their day-to-day work in profession and for other purposes as well. They either do not know the rules of English grammar and err, or ignore it, where it is an essential.
