In this course, we begin by discussing what melodic style banjo is, how it developed and Why it developed?

Melodic style banjo was largely developed to play more melody notes. Banjoists began experimenting with the technique to play fiddle tunes and classical type material on the instrument.

This style was made famous by artists such as Bill Keith, Bobby Thompson, and today, artists such as Bela Fleck widely use this technique.
Next, you will learn how to play your G, C, and D major scales in the Melodic style banjo.

I also cover a few basic melodic licks that you can insert into the song "Cripple Creek." These licks fit your G and C chords.

Lastly, Iteach some scale exercises to further develop your flexibility with the technique. Part of these techniques include playing the scale in 3rds and different groupings.

By the time you are done with the course, you will have a good introduction to the style and be equipped to play in the 5th to 7th fret area of the banjo using melodic style.
