Australia, the smallest continent and one of the largest countries on Earth, lying between the Pacific and Indian oceans in the Southern Hemisphere. Australia’s capital is Canberra, located in the southeast between the larger and more important economic and cultural centres of Sydney and Melbourne.

The most striking characteristics of the vast country are its global isolation, its low relief, and the aridity of much of its surface.

Australia has been called “the Oldest Continent,” “the Last of Lands,” and “the Last Frontier.” Those descriptions typify the world’s fascination with Australia, but they are somewhat unsatisfactory.

The citizenship test is a computer-based multiple-choice test in English and consists of 20 questions drawn at random from a pool of questions. To pass the test, you must answer 75 percent correctly.

The questions come from previous citizenship tests as produced by the Australian Government, and are randomly assorted.

If you fail your test the first time, you will be given only one more chance. The USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) officer must give you notice of results (form N-652) at the end of the interview that will tell you if you passed or failed, or if for some reason your case is continued.

By passing the citizenship test, you will have shown that you understand the commitment you are making by taking the Australian Citizenship Pledge.
