This course is helpful information for any mariner, but particularly those looking to add an assistance towing endorsement to their Coast Guard license in the USA. Towing can be a dangerous business, and this course describes safety, operations, and rules of the road (COLREGS) for towing as a commercial assistance provider at license levels of less than 200 tons in the USA.

If you are planning to test for your towing endorsement, you can do so at any Coast Guard Regional Exam Center, after submitting an application to do so. This endorsement is eligible to add to USCGlicenses with no experience required other than the examination. The final exam at the USCG regional exam centers is 20 questions long with a minimum passing score of 70%.
