Active Parenting

Active parenting is for parents of children of all age groups — infants to teenagers.

There are three pillars to Active Parenting. These are as below.

• Inculcate attributes to make a successful adult systematically and proactively

• Be a mindful parent and tap every opportunity to build these attributes

• Provide high support, while empowering children to take ownership and responsibility for their own life

The goal is to bring up children who are happy with themselves and their surroundings, irrespective of their circumstances; are focused on making others around them happy; are focused on contributing positively to the society; and take ownership for each of the above. In short, Active Parenting helps in raising children who are focused on enhancing the social and emotional wellbeing of self, their immediate surroundings and the society at large. The attributes which help in the above have been identified based on a whole lot of research — including interviews with some of the most successful people, interviewing dozens of parents, and researching scientific papers. This parenting based on the above set of attributes is referred to as the SHARP model. The course also shares strategies and techniques that parents can employ to help instil these attributes in children. Both the model and the strategies and approaches are based on extensive research.
