With this course, I will walk you through the basics of using Twitter as an academic. Whether you are student, professor, researcher, or anyone else in the academic world, this primer will help you understand how to use Twitter. Lessons include breaking down what exactly is going on in a tweet, how to create your username (also known as your handle), leveraging the power of hashtags, how to tweet about a new publication or poster presentation and all the pieces of information you should include in those tweets, and how to retweet someone else or write a thread. You'll also learn the basic principles of science communication and why it is more important than ever for academics, scientists, and researchers to engage in science communication.

No prior experience withTwitter is necessary. When you're finished with this course, you will be ready and able to join Twitter and confidently engage with others and build your following!
